Welcome to the APMA Homepage

WHAT IS APMA?

APMA stands for Association for Promoting Minorities in the Arts.
We are a student-run, Rutgers University organization which addresses minority representation at Mason Gross School of the Arts, arts programs at Rutgers, the Art History department and the arts community on a larger scale. All Rutgers students are eligible members. APMA hopes to create a dialog about the necessity of recruiting and retaining minority students, faculty and administration at Mason Gross. APMA establishes a perspective outside of the Euro-centricity that exists in the curriculum. We also hope to act as a vehicle of encouragement and support for minorities who are pursuing the arts.

WHO IS A MINORITY?

APMA deals specifically with minorities of the Visual Arts, Dance, Theater and Music world. People of color, religious and ethnic minorities, as well as the LGBT community are all examples of those who fall under this category. Though APMA's mission is to promote and support minorities in the arts, everyone is encouraged to be involved and support this cause. Even those who don't necessarily identify as a minority are welcome and essential to this dialog.
